California Design College is looking for
part-time Instructors to teach courses in the Interior Design program. We are currently hiring for our Summer Quarter which begins July 2008. The classes are 4 hours in length and run for 11 weeks.
Classes are held Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (morning/afternoon classes) and evenings from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Course subjects include:
Architectural Drafting - AutoCAD (ID2219): Students will study the materials and
fabrication techniques involved in the design and construction of the basic interior details and how these details are communicated in the documents package. Contents include cabinetry, ceiling, walls
and millwork. This is a lower division course requiring a Bachelors degree; however a Masters degree is preferred with NCIDQ certification and teaching experience.
Introduction to AutoCAD
(ID1129): This course introduces the student to the use of AutoCAD software to set up drawings using lines, circles, arcs and other shapes, geometric constructions, layering and text. Students use display and editing techniques to obtain information about their drawings and work with drawing files. This is a lower division course requiring a Bachelors degree; however a Masters degree is preferred with NCIDQ certification and teaching experience.
Corporate Design (ID2233): This is the study of the three dimensional aspects of interior space and understanding of the interior spaces as volume. Students will work through the process
of designing a corporate space in detail from conceptualization to presentation drawings. Research will center on the technical elements involved in commercial spaces, corporate furnishings, lighting,
materials, finishes and applications for commercial use. This is a lower division course requiring a Bachelors degree; however a Masters degree is preferred with NCIDQ certification and teaching
experience.
Lighting Design
(ID2235): This course offers a comprehensive study of the possibilities of lighting as a form given to interior space, and the technical knowledge necessary to create a successfully lit interior. This is a lower division course requiring a Bachelors degree; however a Masters degree is preferred with NCIDQ certification and teaching experience.
Business Management for Interior Designers (ID4419): Principles governing the business, legal and contractual aspects of the interior design profession for both commercial and residential
applications. Addressed are factors in client relationships, marketing of design services and contemporary issues of the design professional. This is an upper division course requiring a Masters degree
preferably with NCIDQ certification.
Candidates must have a Bachelor Degree (Masters Degree preferred) and NCIDQ certification. Previous experience in teaching at a post secondary school
