AUGUST, 2008
News for Certified Interior Designers

Sept. 2 is the deadline to register for the October 18 CCRE

The October CCRE is our last exam given under our current requirement to become a Certified Interior Designer in the state of California.

Before registering for the October 18 exam, you may first want to read about our new exam to help you decide if you should take the current CCRE or wait for the new exam to come out.

Interior design students are encouraged to take the CCRE to start their Certification process early while they are still in school. Download our FREE CCRE Study Guide today

Want more information on the new 2009 Certification Exam?
The new “single” examination for interior designers in California will replace our current CCRE and the three national examinations. The one certification examination will be available online at multiple examination sites across the state starting in 2009.

For full details, go to:
www.ccidc.org/new_exam.html

Read our
FAQ on the new exam

To receive news on exam dates, study materials, etc, fill in this form . This is a separate list only for those interested in taking the new exam.

Study Guides are not yet available for the new 2009 Exam.

Important notes:

(1) Those who are planning to take the CCRE this October (to become a Certified Interior Designer in California) but who have not taken or passed one of the three national exams (either the CQRID, NCIDQ or NKBA), please delay your plans and take the new exam in 2009 as this will be the only exam you will need to take.

(2) Those who have taken one of the national exams should seriously consider taking the October CCRE as this probably will be the last time CCIDC gives it, because it is on what are now out-of-date codes.

(3) If you are planning to take one of the national exams for any other reason, such as becoming a "Professional member” of an association such as ASID or IIDA, or for regulatory reasons in another state, then you should continue on that path.
